A Public Appeal

Reprinting from a recent LinkedIn post…

I was on the air with Westwood One Sports recently, delivering scoring updates during the US Open. Really enjoy working with Tim Parker and Mike Eaby and the Westwood One team. I love the thrill of hitting a time, and the research and writing that goes into each of those :60 second hits. Going back to when Westwood One had the Masters contract, we have had some productive years together, and I treasure that experience.

Earlier this year, I accepted a role with The Villages as an on-air host for VNN (Villages News Network), co-hosting a weekly lifestyle show. I have some radio duties up there for WVLG Radio. I have to say that The Villages employee experience — even for a part-timer like me — is exceptional. They have been cool with me learning how to host shifts on WVLG and I cannot wait to get back to my radio roots in that regard.

This summer, I will join Rollins College in Student Media Operations, where I will advise and plan for the student radio station, newspaper, literary journal, and arts publication. Those who have heard me wax eloquent about WVBR-FM in Ithaca will certainly understand my commitment to student journalism.

I continue to produce my golf radio show, ‘Making The Cut,’ Saturday mornings on iHeartRadio’s 96.9 The Game and AM 930 FOX Sports Radio Jacksonville. Everyone at iHeartRadio in Orlando has been very supportive, and I look forward to building on the show with new sponsorship (that’s a hint, people. It’s a one-hour golf show on Saturday mornings. We can do it anywhere. Call me).

After 12 years as a staff member at Golf Channel, I have been a freelancer there since 2022. I am grateful for the continued opportunity.

I am actively seeking freelance opportunities in sports broadcasting, podcasting, and public speaking — and on that note, many thanks to Van Wagner College for allowing me to emcee their recent sales event in Orlando!

Those who know me are aware that I am not just a ‘golf guy.’ My play-by-play, reporting, hosting, and public address experience includes basketball, football, and baseball, from high school to pro. Everyone in our industry knows what it’s like to seek new opportunities as talent when you’re a little north of the preferred age. These last few years have been a challenge, to put it mildly. To all of my friends and former colleagues who have heard from me over that span, thank you for your support and your suggestions.

So here’s my elevator pitch: if you or someone you know has an opening in any of the disciplines above, even as a one-off, try me. One shot. I’ll show up more prepared than necessary, charm your producer and director, nail the assignment, and hopefully compel you to invite me back.

Sound good?

Thanks for the consideration.
